Torpedo Rocks Malbec 2022
Winemaking: Dry grown, hand-picked, basket pressed - 10% being whole bunches - malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aged for 18 months in 100% Grande Reserve French Oak used with the new oak component being 35% with 2, and 3 year old oak barriques. The new oak percentage has come from middle of the Forrest growth oak with a tighter knit and seamless feel. Minimal intervention when bottled.
Tasting comments: the religious life is calling again with the 2022 vintage – Episcopalian Purple colour is back and images of your favourite Deity (can be Henry Cavill) appear after your first mouthful. You are firstly greeted with a vivacious nose of damson plums, mulberries, bouquets of violets and cocoa. It is very fruit forward with a full mouth of sweet black plummy fruits, blueberries, dark chocolate bean and hints of caramelised sugar. The mouth feel is like eating chocolate mousse; dense, rich, velvety and unctuous. The tannin structure allows this wine to cellar for a number of years.
